Llangorse Lake has been a destination for fishermen for centuries, it is a premiere water for pike fishing but also holds stocks of perch, roach, tench, bream and eels.
All fishing must be conducted from boats and requires a permit. There is NO bank fishing as the shores contain many SSSI’s and conservation areas. Fishing boats can be hired (see boat hire page) or you can launch your own craft (see permit and launch page)
* All persons 17 years and over must pay for a permit BEFORE going on the Lake. These cost £7.00 and are available from Lakeside shop. A fishing license from the Natural Resources Wales/Environment Agency is also needed. These are available from most Post Offices. (Not required for under 12 years old).
* DO NOT enter the exclusion zones - SEE BELOW. Free Lake maps showing the exclusion zones are available from Lakeside shop.
* There is a speed limit of 8 kilometres per hour (5 mph) for all craft on the lake.
* Fishing is only from boats. No bank fishing is allowed. Boats can be hired from Lakeside shop. No live bait is to be introduced into the lake from off site.
* No mooring to the exclusion zone buoys. Be aware that the slalom skiing course is connected with steel wire, which will snag your lines which could result in you losing your tackle! The slalom course should be considered a 'no go' area when ski boats are on the lake.
* DO NOT leave litter in the boats, especially fishing line and plastics which can prove fatal to wildlife if eaten.
* ALL FISH MUST BE HANDLED WITH CARE AND CONSIDERATION AND RETURNED TO THE LAKE UNHARMED.Any person found in breach of this rule will not be welcome back. If someone has misshandled fish please report to management as soon as possible. Advice for handling fish can be found at http://www.pikeanglersclub.co.uk/pike-fishing-fundamentals/handling-pike/
* Fishing is only allowed during daylight hours, please make sure you return in good time.
